Fantastic Family Fun Day
6th June 2013

In glorious sunshine the Family Fun Day arranged by the Mark Province of West Lancashire took place at St. Saviour’s Church, Bamber Bridge on Saturday 6th July. Last year it was almost a wash out but this year the weather couldn’t have been better for this fund raising event.

The day started slowly but as the temperature increased so did the numbers of families with children, couples old and young who came along and enjoyed the excellent entertainment provided in the school yard and the playing fields behind.

The Provincial Grand Master for the Mark Province, Peter Connolly and his wife Lynne were not just in attendance but busy organising a variety of things to ensure the day went smoothly and their hard work paid off handsomely and this showed throughout the day, yet he took time out to enjoy a ride on the model steam railway with his grandchildren. They were ably assisted by Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Keith Beardmore and Assistant GM’s Ian Nairn and Michael Clarke together numerous ladies and members of the Mark Province.

The children’s face painting proved to be very, very popular, as well as a wild bird display and donkey rides for which there was always a queue.

There was a bouncy castle, bungy jumping, roundabouts and many other sorts of rides and entertainment on the playing field was provided so ably by Ray Dainton on his piano.

And just in case you were hungry the hot dog and burger stall run by Andy Baker, Tony Shaw and Stewart Cowburn was very popular with sales running into the hundreds of satisfied customers.

Whilst most took advantage of the sunny weather, David and Liz Bell along with their family provided the catering inside the hall. The afternoon Teas were great and they raised over £400.

The day was truly an outstanding success and hopefully next year the weather will be even better.

If you missed this year’s event, you really missed a great day. Don’t miss it next year!!
